Working With Alateen: All Alateen meetings and events must have Al-Anon Member In Alateen Service (AMIAS) Sponsors and supervision. Please review the Oregon Area Alateen Safety Requirements and the Alateen Safety Guidelines (G-34) linked below. If you are interested in applying to be an AMIAS (uh-ME-us), contact your local District Representative (DR) or the Area Alateen Process Person (AAPP) with any questions. Fill out and return the completed forms to the DR who will guide you through the process, interview you personally and contact your references. The DR signs and submits these documents to the Area Alateen Process Person (AAPP). At that point, the DR instructs the applicant to contact the local law enforcement agency for fingerprinting to initiate an FBI criminal background check. The Oregon State Police will communicate the results with the AAPP. If the applicant is eligible, the AAPP will submit a request for approval to the World Service Office. After an AMIAS Registration number is issued by the WSO, the DR is notified that the applicant is eligible to serve and can begin working with Alateen.
